Memory List of Shows

A while back, some of my cronies and I were working on a list of TV shows we really liked in our yoot (being the late 70s and early 80s). The list isn't full of the shows everyone remembers, like Battlestar Galatica or Buck Rogers, but more of the shows nobody remembers except for "the one with that one guy" or "I remember a scene where..." but the show names are ancient history. Instead of having the list trapped in our collective emails, I decided to share...maybe spark some memories of days bygone.

1. Otherworld--the show with the family going through the pyramid to a parallel dimension Earth
2. The Phoenix--show with the long-haired white guy in the vest with a big medallion...I think it had something to do with aliens.
3. Wizards & Warriors--1983 attempt at a half-hour sitcom based in a medieval fantasy kingdom (awesome!...at the time. Now...???)(update, might not have been comedy???)
4. Tale of the Gold Monkey--it was like Indiana Jones, but for TV
5. Wiseguy--later in the 80s than the above....guy becomes undercover mafia wiseguy for FBI
6. Automan--Think of it as a reverse Tron...computer geek and his artificial cohort fight crime
7. Highwayman--Don't remember what it's about, just remember the big semi with a helicopter and a
futuristic car inside
8.Manimal--guy turns into animals and fights crime
9. Voyagers!--Guys travels through time with large pocket watch and fix time anomalies
10. StreetHawk--Guy has awesome motorcycle and bulletproof costume and fights crime
11. Whiz Kids--Super computer hacker kids fight crime
12. Misfits of Science--high school kids with super powers
13.Shadow Chasers--Like X-files but from 1985
14. Equalizer--british old guy does solo A-team thing
15. Hunter--ex football player turned cop
16. A Man Called Hawk--Spinoff of Spencer for hire, with the character Hawk (the black man in the white fur coat)
17. Max Headroom--c'mon....you know
18. Beauty and the Beast-- Ron Perlman, c'mon

In light of the recent thread I started about making a list of shows for our kids when they get older, it occurred to me that this early 80s list is awesome, but SO SO limiting, especially when our collective memories are going to start spiraling down the crapper anytime now. I propose we do the same thing here...like Sooth's ideas of incorporating lists into single threads. Not to use this thread to discuss current shows, but to list shows that have gone (i.e. they stopped making them) and we want to remember them a few years down the road. The whole archive/legacy thing. Cartoons, hour-longs, sitcoms, Jersey Shore... whatever you need to remember later on.

Good examples for me: I LOVED Stargate. How could I ever forget Stargate?! Well, unless I see a rerun on, or see the discs in one of our cases, I do happen to forget. Krod Mandoon...six episodes of pure YAY, and I have them all...but I often forget all about it!

So, the general idea is: you think of a show you might not remember 20 years down the road, steal some text from the wiki about it, and stick in a pic or two that would remind you what was going on. I would say link to a youtube vid of the shows opening credits or something, but who knows where the internet will be in even 5 years. Hell, throw a video on there too if you can find one (NOT whole episodes!!! I don't wanna get sued by Hanna Barbera or SyFy, or get accused of de-plinking!!!!).

MARSUPILAMI (1992) Disney? Raw Toonage

Disney's version of the Marsupilami first appeared on television in Raw Toonage in 1992, and was then spun off into his own eponymous show on the CBS network. Marsupilami's supporting characters included Maurice the gorilla, Stewart the elephant, Eduardo the jaguar, Leonardo the lion, Norman the poacher, and other characters. The original Marsupilami stories by Franquin never encountered a gorilla or elephant, since these species are native to Africa, while the marsupilami in the comic was said to come from South America (However, in the album "Le dictateur et le champignon", the Marsupilami escapes from his cell on a boat with a gorilla). Another change is Marsupilami can speak in difference to his comic counterpart that can only mimic sound like a parrot. In this version, Marsupilami is voiced by Steve Mackall. Schnookums and Meat was a secondary segment on this show.

There were twenty-three episodes in the series, and the series lasted one season. Reruns of the show were aired on both Disney Channel and Toon Disney.
