| I linked to this app (game) in the Zombies thread. Rather than waiting to get home and watch the videos, I installed it on my phone and signed up within 20 minutes of finishing that introductory post. Rather, I should say I registered, backed up because I was trying to read character differences and a co-worker wouldn't stop talking about frickin mermaids, and waited until later in the day to again register. As I found today in the Zombie thread, another user has installed the app, so rather than clogging the Zombie thread... My initial opinion upon signing up is that even with the 'pop-up tooltips' when you poke an icon, the documentation is very unhelpful, especially when you get to the end of character selection and it asks if you're SURE, because you CANNOT change this later! Um... no, Mr. Panda, sir.... I'm not sure! Because you did a crap job of telling me if I had to focus on certain sports/exercises depending on what character I take, or if it's just a bonus thing... like getting extra XP points for weight training if I picked the minotaur. Very vague, as is the rest of the game's 'under-the-hood' stuff, AND the web site version is worse! BUT, it's in beta, they have assured members there's a BIG update coming in August, and if you're willing to risk the battery life, Endomondo runs flawlessly in the background of Healthy Heroes, so you can level up your character in HH while also tracking your stats in Endomondo! NOW... the Zombie game is an audio story/adventure wherein you run/jog/walk from fictional zombies, through a fictional post-outbreak city, and collect items which you assign to buildings in your village to level up said buildings and unlock later missions. Healthy Heroes... you have a character, 4 basic stats, an XP meter, an 'energy' meter (what the hell does THAT do?!), and an amount of gold. You can exercise your way through 'missions' and gain gold and XP (and SOMEHOW you gain energy while you're actually burning it up). You can start or join friendly challenges (i.e. bicycle 5 times in one day for Xamount gold and Xamount XP). You can also start or join PvP or Co-Op challenges/missions, but I'm really uncertain how this all works yet. The thing that most caught my eye is 'Spot' domination...which I found out today is not yet implemented, but supposedly the August update will turn that on. When HH tracks you on the GPS, it finds your 'Spot.' Your workout turf. An example of how this would work is: Assuming I'm the only one in Marinette who has ever heard of Healthy Heroes (there is no selectable exercise of 'raise can to lips, drink, burp loudly, and shout "Go Packers!"' Yeah, I said it) I can continue raising my character up levels, and my XP will go towards my 'Spot'. If someone else in Marinette fires up HH, or someone with HH is visiting the area, their HH will tell them "Mike is the lord/king/hot-shit (no idea, it's not implemented yet!) of this 'Spot'". They would then have to assert their own exercising hootz-kpa in my spot to try and overthrow me. Good god, that sounds fun! (Not someone exercising in my spot, cuz ewwww). It's like gang warfare operated by the human body! Without shivs even! I will try to keep ya'll posted as I TRY to learn more of this app. | |

| Heh...as an update of sorts... When I first signed up, I had just got home from nights at work, and was on my way to bed. When I thought I finally had it all sorted, I just wanted to see what kind of stuff was inside, so I signed in, and HH told me my character was sleeping (see VaderXanth's post in the zombies thread) and I had to do a 200 meter power walk to wake him up. Unlike Vader, I decided I had been up too long already, and boxers-n-socks power walking around small-town Amerika is frowned upon in some circles. So I closed the damn thing and went to bed. Last night when I got to work, after my initial worky stuff, I did the math and found that 200 meters (metres) is 0.124... miles (miels). HEY, that's from the boiler house back door, to the river, and back! Turned on HH, prepared to wake my little bastard up, and that screen did NOT come up! Instead it told me I had 0 energy, and a 10% honesty.... I'm thinking the damn thing stayed running in the background or something, and just tracked my 200 meters walking across the house or putting the dogs out, or maybe a trip in the van, so it assumes I was full of shit. Sigh....If you get this app, I recommend doing the 200 meters right away! Obviously something odd happened to my dude, so not only was he awake, but he was out of energy and full of shit, and I'm sure it will take some doing to fix that... Unless I start a new character with a different email next month after the update.... | |
