I couldn't help but notice that there are a few open threads regarding new or interesting looking tabletop miniatures-based games (or just games for that matter).  I'm just tossing this thread out here in an effort to kind of condense them all into one convenient location.

To start this thread, I'd like to share a game that I've recently found.  This game is called Golem Arcana, and that link will take you to their Kickstarter page.  What peaks my interest is that the gaming system works with your smartphone or tablet...

The game comes with a fancy stylus which, well, let me post the picture.  That'll explain things better than I.

And here, read this...  this is freaking amazing.

Quote :
The Golem Arcana App knows where all your figures are because each figure’s base and the game board are covered with invisible microdots. When you touch a figure with the stylus, information is transferred to the app via Bluetooth technology. The App immediately identifies which figure it is, all its capabilities, and its position on the game board.  When you touch the stylus to a new region of the game board, the app instantly knows whether the move is valid or not.

When you touch an enemy figure, the App automatically can tell if the attack is blocked by intervening terrain, what the range modifiers are, what the terrain modifiers are, and applies the benefits or drawbacks from characters’ active magical abilities.
No books, no scores of papers to ruffle through trying to find something: everything is right there!  The app takes care of everything for you: whether or not terrain is hiding a figure, or there is a cover save, range, tracking, everything!

Cthulhu Tech

Take the likes of Robotech or Battletech, mix in a healthy dose of Call of Cthulhu or Hellboy, and what do you get?  Okay, then take that abomination and sprinkle in some RPG elements.  Bake on 350 for 25 minutes (35 if using glass), cool, and you get something like this: Cthulhu Tech.

For the record, this is a game that 'crunch and I have talked about off and on for the past few years.

Here is what the wiki has to say about the game... oh, and if you want to read more about the game via wiki, click here.

Quote :
CthulhuTech is a science-fiction and horror roleplaying game created by Wildfire LLC and published by Sandstorm that combines elements of the Cthulhu Mythos with anime-style mecha, horror, magic and futuristic action. The setting is Earth in the year 2085 during a worldwide conflict known as the Aeon War, (from the Necronomicon quote: "And with strange aeons even death may die") wherein the planet has been invaded twice: once by a black-skinned manufactured alien race known as the Nazzadi who are derived from humans and who join forces with them, and then a second time by the Mi-Go, an advanced alien civilization seemingly bent on the enslavement of humanity. Aside from these conflicts, the game focuses on other factions, such as ancient cults like the Esoteric Order of Dagon that are running amok across the planet and the eldritch horrors that are rising to destroy the world as, according to the prophecies of the Cthulhu Mythos, the "stars are right" and the Great Old Ones and their servitors are returning/reawakening to reclaim the Earth. The game uses a proprietary ten-sided die (d10) system titled "Framewerk."
The main site for this game is here.  There you will find background stories, character / player sheets, quick rules, downloads, and so on.  "But I don't want to spend more money on a game we won't play."  Come on now, who said anything about spending money?  Hell, who said anything about playing?  This is just a cool concept, especially for those who like big mech style robots and Cthulhu, something I'm going to read just because I like the genres.

Oh, yeah, about the money part.  By following this link, you will come to a PDF of the core rule book.  Free.  I haven't found (or looked) for supplements.

{EDIT}

Supplements

Vade Mecum - description of this companion book can be found on Cthulhu Tech's website right here.

Dark Passions - description can be found here.

There are other online sources for the supplements (which include Ancient Enemies, Mortal Remains, and Unveiled Threats), I just haven't found any free ones.  Well, there are free ones, but they are bit torrents.  I'll keep looking, though.

Character Sheet - self explanatory
