Another Chapter Ends Empty
PostSubject: Another Chapter Ends   Another Chapter Ends EmptySun Dec 02, 2012 9:29 pm

I am done. I can't stand it anymore.

I moved up here in October of 2000 due to the lady I was with was pregnant and she wanted to be closer to her family. Me, always trying to make others happy, agreed. That marriage is over. That house was lost. Those ties are severed. My latest greatest adventure ended more than a year ago. That one moved to Louisiana. There is nothing to do up here. I hate winter sports, I don't have a 4-wheeler or dirt bike. I don't like going to the bars to socialize. So, what is there to do up here? Hrmmmm. Work work work. I do have a few friends up here, but they have for the main part different outlooks on life and they have different ideas of what to do for fun. I don't do anything with anyone up here on the weekends so I rarely speak. Who's here to hear me? I do talk to my cats, but I keep it to the bare minimum because if I have a full blown conversation with them, things wouldn't be well.

Yes. I do have a decent job. I'm making just over $18/hr. and that has provided me the means to get things that I want. But in all honesty, I'd rather be broke and see my brother more than once a year. No gas in my car? I'd be able to either walk or ride my bike to my best friends house. There are more things to do in the Marinette area than there is up here. My job is the ONLY thing that has kept me up here this long and I'm sick of that. Why should a job have so much control over someone? I do know that jobs are hard to find and I should be 'happy' that I'm employed, but still.... I believe that I'd be happier stocking shelves for $7/hr. while being able to see my family and friends vs. making $18 and being alone. Money can't buy happiness. It can buy a $1,200 computer, it can buy miniatures for games that can't be played since getting together is inconvenient, it can buy a couch and loveseat for ONE PERSON(?!?!?!), it can buy a chainsaw.... It can buy me books so I can try to learn things so I can stay in touch with my best friend.

I am just so fucking bored and alone up here and I'm getting really tired of it. It's getting to the point where I'm spending more time looking for things to do than actually doing things. I stayed up until past 10 am this morning because I didn't want to go to sleep because there was soooo much I could be doing. And what did I do? nothing. I finally went to bed because I was getting a headache. Got out of bed at 5:30 pm... weekend gone. just like the one before this one. gone..

Where do I want to be? Where do I want to call home? I want to be back in Marinette. That is where it feels like home. And right now I'm feeling really homesick. I think that it's time to look for a job and a place to live down there again. I probably won't do anything until Spring, unless of course something really good comes my way. But I've up my mind. This is not my home, I don't like it up here and I am going to be doing everything I can to get out of here and back down there.

You know you just implied that 'things' happen in Marinette? Shocked

And don't forget Menominee. Isn't it a total PITA to transfer all your IDs and tax stuff to a different state? I think I remember someone saying that. Of course, I work with a guy who, in he last two years, has gone from Carney > Peshtigo > Menominee and he didn't complain TOO much. I do know he said 'everything' is cheaper in Michigan, but I think he was just talking insurance rates.

MMC is probably still looking for people, if you wanted to do that again. Don't know if Tyco's hiring or not... don't expect to get a boiler position, though; seems someone has to die first before you can get in. Then there's security...

I will be looking at MMC and Tyco. There's a few other places, but listed are my first 2 choices..
I don't know about the security stuff for I have no training in that field..

"Tyco Fire Supression Products Security. This is *insert name*. How can I help you? Yes, one moment while I transfer your call." sigh... "Now what do I do for the next 45 minutes?" Several youtube videos later... "Oh crap! Somebody is trying to climb the fence! As security I should do something about that! BUT.. haha! Our procedure is to call the cops and not put ourselves in harm's way!" Cops take care of it... "Now what? Two more badges I can level up on Kongregate!"

I jest of course. It seems they do have a habit of hiring people with SOME experience or schooling in the field. For what? I have no idea. What they should check is if people have a job history enabling them to handle short notice schedule changes!

*Note: Weird! I put "insert name" in "<" these kinds of arrows and it didn't show up! Must have thought I was using HTML...

Climbed the fence? Entering or leaving MMC property? Going to MMC, ehh, not my problem; leaving MMC property, but on the section of the road before the gate, well, that's technically not Tyco property, so again not my problem. Going from MMC onto Tyco property, why, I'd call the B36 supervisor to tell him what's going on, and get his approval to do anything else. Going over the fence from the parking lot, I suppose I should do something, but then again, the cameras aren't facing that direction, so I probably didn't see anything.

Overall, 3 out of 4 times, I do nothing. 1 out of 4 times I call someone to see what I should do. 4 out of 4 times I probably could have seen something but was busy watching videos.

And training for security? Ha, that's funny. One does not need qualifications for security, and the only requirement is to not be a felon (you have to pass a background check). I've done my own background checks on some of the guards, and we have one that was arrested for "possession with intent to sell", so I think pretty much anything goes. I only went and got a degree in Law Enforcement so I could land a job with G4S (formerly Wackenhut, they do security at MMC, and require a degree) and a corrections officer position with Marinette whenever one opens. None of the guards by the secondary entrance have 'qualifications' other than working at fast food places, and two of the four guards at the main gate don't even have that. I think I was the only one that came there with a list of qualifications and certifications longer than my arm, including the supervisor (in title only).

Anywho, definitely go to Manpower right away; all the local businesses go through them it seems. Also, use Indeed.com

Material Handler? Can you sit on a forklift for 8 hours? YIKES! Oh yeah... seriously yikes if it's for building 29... damn job is cursed. CURSED, I say!

Just had a big LOL. Been down here 8 hours and I finally just looked at new stuff on the bulletin board. December 5th they posted for a Boiler Operator job, which is stupid because the current Relief Op has already stated he wants to "move up," but company policy is he still has to post for it, AND it's possible for someone with more experience and qualifications to actually get it... theoretically. Like if someone came in with state certifications for power plant operation or something like that (we are not required by law to carry said certifications...)

Point is, relief moves up, then they post for his job! Can you imagine?!

It's kind of neat looking back at posts like these. I applied for a specific position back in December and where do I find myself? As a worker through ManPower, a material handler in the warehouse sending anywhere from 5K to 225K to various parts of the world. I am in a position where no 'temp worker' should be due to the responsibilities regarding to the shipping of hazards. I am currently in the process of being trained for the 2nd shift lead position in the International department. I kind of wish that they'd hire me on as a Tyco employee soon.

Patience..

At least I'm there. Thumbs Up
