Hey gang! I'm all about Soothsayer trying to condense his threads, and I went ahead started doing the same thing. Only thing is, I have issues when I find a movie and my lack of memory leaves me wondering if I should review it, or did I already, or who was it that told me about it, did they review it, did I hear about it on the forum... was it something replied in my movie thread, or did Sooth mention it in his...???? And of course, sometimes the search function works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes I'm not even sure what to search!

Now, I've been catching up on a few missed movies lately, and watching more obscure titles, some indies, and the occasional obscure indie thrown in. Not to mention my taste for the foreign films! If I added a post in my movie thread, or tossed a reply in Sooth's about these movies, the jumbled mass of confusion would only deepen. I propose THIS: A subforum wherein we make a separate thread for each movie! So what if we have 10 pages of 3 post threads? At least if someone wants to know about a particular movie, they can go right to it without wading through other stuffs useless to the current search. If it becomes necessary to cross reference two posts or movies, a link from one post to another can be easily made later on.

Now, this is an experiment, because what I'm seeing in my head may not fit with my memory of what the system can do. I'm thinking... use the stars, BUT, the first post could also have a poll, where each member could rate the movie (probably use Netflix's ?/5 system), and if I'm right, the poll results will auto update in the first post... so when someone finds a movie on Netflix and checks here for peer review, they SHOULD only have to go into the first post to see the current opinion! Also, if memory serves, threads can be sorted alphabetically instead of chronologically, so we could have the movie list by title, making it much easier to find something.

Let's try it and see where it takes us!

As you may have gathered, I'm tossing several movies in quickly, so I can test the alphabetical thing. Since I'm experimenting, and not ready to type my reviews yet, I didn't know what to put in the initial post body, but it occurred to me it might be handy to give some basic info about the film. Somebody pops in, sees a movie has a high score, maybe they want to read about it, or check out the IMDB page! I'm not saying everybody has to do this with every movie, but it's kindof a neat idea.

Also, the poll... I went with ten, since there's some movies I would rate higher than 4, but less than 5... so this gives that little bit of extra play. For those who might want to start a post of their own, this is how I set up the poll:

I turned on the vote cancelling in case someone wants to change their vote at a later time (or if they hit the wrong button while testing the first post...sigh... Bash Head ) So far, I like the look of this, but we'll see where it leads. Now I'm off to make sure everyone has poll permissions, and try finding the damn alphabetical sort feature.
