Compared to the first one, this one was greatly lacking. Haven't watched any of the other installments after having seen this.

Heh, compared to the first one... I saw this one.  Laughing One of those things where I keep forgetting to track down the first one. I was also unaware there were more after this, will have to do some digging. I did read some of the mangas, but as this was kind of much later than the beginning of the mangas... yeah.

So... taken as a singular title, I thought this was a tad bit of awesome. It had a story, maybe not the best, but it had more depth than most things coming out of Hollywood. Also, me being me, I love the computer generated animation, and the animation herein was well done. Crisp colors and effects, better than average character motion, and of course there was animation throughout. Some of the scenes appeared to use a CG that forces the appearance of traditional 2D Japanese anime, and when they mixed that with the truly CG aspects, things got a little... well you lose any chance of your brain pulling you in because the unreality of it is like a baseball bat to the skull... from a "suspension of disbelief" point of view.

I do have the first one on UMD if you wanted to watch it on the PSP. There is something you should note with the first one though: there are two versions.

The short story is that the original was released under one company, and then the movie (or something) was bought by a different distributor. Because the voice actor for Briareos was still under contract with company 1, they had to redub his lines with a different voice actor before releasing it again.

The one that was on Netflix (don't know if it still is or not) was with voice actor number 2. The one I have is with voice actor number 1.

...

The computer animation in these are phenomenal!
