PostSubject: Cosplay   Cosplay EmptyThu Dec 15, 2011 6:45 pm

I have just spent an unhealthy amount of my day perusing cosplay pics. For those who might need a reminder, cosplay is the art of costume role-playing characters from video games, cartoons, movies, comics, or any other geeky venture. There were costumes done amazingly, there were costumes done with duct tape and markers and it was obvious they were done with duct tape and markers, there were costumes which sought to prove rule #63 (look it up on the urban dictionary... Razz).

Now, I know some people on here enjoy a good cosplay image, so I thought maybe we could share some faves, or just awesome examples of super costume design (oooh, now I have to dig up that pic I found of a paper mache City Ordinator from Morrowind...awesome awesome job!). For now, two questions...

#1 - Does it count as COSplay if it's less 'costume' and more paint?

And #2 - Does it count as cosplay if OH MY GOD!!!! MY EYES!!!!! affraid pale

Love this... paper mache and cardboard mixed with a hint of Morrowind.

In reference to number 1... Freddy never had a glove with spikes on it. Pfft. Poser wannabe.

Number 2... wait, are those beads Woody's pull string? Ewwwwwwwww.

Number 3... forget Boborine, look at the guy on the left, the one in the red flannel. He's trying to hypnotize you. Hypnotize you... getting... sleeeep.....eeeee......

Number 4... I've heard about having a broom stuck up your ass, but in your head? All this scene needs is a picture of Camelot. Well, only a model.

Smile

I did check out the Belle Chere stuff. Damn! (and I'm not just saying that for obvious reasons). Loved her Lady Deadpool! Lady Death was perfect, and Ivy? Dear lord in heaven. Even if she didn't have the figure of a comic book character, she made some very good costumes.

Oh how I love hitting preview, then forgetting to hit send before clicking elsewhere....sigh. Anyway, what I just got done typing was an explanation of the Belle Chere stuff mentioned in the previous post. Belle Chere is a woman who takes cosplay to a whole new level, making some of the best costumes I've seen.

Now we know that, the purpose for my post/reply was to share that I found a flickr photo stream of hers, with many costume examples from many different conventions. Best part, she tends be photoed with people of equal quality costumes, like the guy with the AWESOME Mr. Sinister costume. Very nice work. The photo stream, for those interested, can be found at this link.

This lad is trying way too hard. I can just imagine the hours spent on the intricate detailings of his costume...

He'd have done a better job dressed up as a member of Team Edward or something.

I know, I know... this was unintentional.  This isn't a cosplay, this isn't a costume.  But, perhaps at some point it could be? Thanks be onto Shadowcrunch for noticing this!

And then we have this.  My youngest (at the last minute, more or less) decided that yes he wanted to dress up for Halloween.  Great.  No budget due to our original Trailblazer dying (and then getting repaired) and the purchase of a new Trailblazer... what were we to do?  Boy picked up the Thomas Jane Punisher movie case, and instant inspiration.  There's a few more pics coming down my way, with the boy holding my shotgun and of him using pistol and knife, but at least you get the idea.  Jacket was from Goodwill last year, few bucks.  Shirt is mine, got from Walmart several months back.  Combat boots were ordered for me years ago.  The only thing purchased specifically for this was the temporary spray hair dye.  All told, costume cost just over a dollar.  For actual trick-or-treat purposes, the boy's going to be wandering through down equipped with Nerf guns.

The laddie looks like he could easily take the Punisher! Kudos to you guys and the fine camera work! We can now add another to the long list of characters who can defeat the Punisher, but I think there is like a 65,000 word maximum per post so we can't list ALL the characters. We'll just say Tannenbaum could do it, and leave it at that!

As for your first set of pics... if only we could get that celeb lookalike to do the "You're a goody-two shoes" dance! Seriously, a metal gauntlet and lose the glasses, Halloween is done!
