Crying inside a little bit... Empty
PostSubject: Crying inside a little bit...   Crying inside a little bit... EmptySun Jul 31, 2011 1:29 am

Just got done firing up a facebook account mainly just to get my free credits from posting Pixton comics on my wall. Got in to the point where I could start doing stuff, and immediately wanted to delete my account. I forgot just how friggin cheesy the whole layout looks! Granted, Google+ isn't much of anything worth a damn, in fact I don't think any of them are...but Google+ doesn't have a gaw damm monopoly on people giving a thumbs up to shit on the internet! Yeah, they have some, but EVERY damn site out there..."like us? facebook! Wanna kiss our asses? Facebook! Share this...Facebook! Pay homage to the false prophet that is facebook!"

Okay, a little overboard, AND it's my fault cuz if I don't like it I just need to walk away, but dammit they have free creds for pixton! And THAT'S the whole thing....there's contests from bands and game companies that you can only enter through facebook...and I'm sure there's a ton more ONLY IF you like someone on the book. I think that's what pisses me off the second most about the whole damn thing!

You know, I found Google+ by trying to find the "next big thing" in social networking...and maybe it could be a contender for the future....BUT, know what I would sign up for in a jiff? The anti-facebook...the anti-social network... GoEfYerselfBook! Imagine a whole site devoted to "Billy Watson just sent you a friend request! How should we respond?"
1. GO EF YOURSELF!
2. Try again next week!

And you actually get a "score" not based on how many "friends" you have, but how many people you told to fuck off! Good god, the whole pacifist vibe about facebook I just got from thinking this through...It's not about knowing people, only about how many you can gather to virtually like you! Awwww...John Lennon would be proud. Yes, we have the power to be a peaceful, loving society, even online. I can still care about humanity as a whole, and tell people who wanna bother me to fuck off!

Um...crap...what was my point again? Heh...christ I came here to post about warmachine. MY BAD!!!

Keep in mind evey company is saying "Like us? Check us on Facebook" because it is such a popular site; if it wasn't... if it was more like Myspace, then the companies wouldn't bother. Hell, look at all the exclusive crap that's out for the IPad and IPhone!

I myself try to stay away from the liking aspect of Facebook. Sure, there are some things I have liked, but that's only so I can get updates for sales, specials, or just information... beats having my email inbox flooded with crap. Can't find anything I want in my inbox as it is (I really should delete some things in it).

Besides, from what I've heard in the news, Facebook is slowly dying; they're losing members on a daily basis, more than what they are bringing in. Soon there will be a new big thing, and everyone will swarm to that.

Haven't tried Google+... then again, haven't bothered to check it out, either. I still have a bad taste in my mouth because of Google Buzz.

Oh, the irony...

Just logged on, and I noticed that, on the right side, there's a square under your blender picture with icons from Digg, Twitter, and Facebook, with the standard like and stuff.

So, I liked this page. You're now tagged on Facebook! Well, not you, but this website.

lol!

I take your irony, chew it up, swallow it, and crap it on your neighbor's lawn!

As an old-school techie, I can find all this facebook crap annoying. As a forum forumer, I have to appreciate the free advertising that goes with all that thumb up, poke, rub, smile, plus, and so forth. And when I find the social network where you like stuff by rubbing it, I am SOO there! Twisted Evil

And just so we're aware...that first icon, the one that doesn't say 'DIGG' or 'DIGG IT' under it...it's not Digg. That +1 with the happy multi-colored thing is the new google rating system that will someday be implemented in Google+.

This keeps up I might actually start using my damn youtube account! All that started during my "down with google" phase (not a passing phase mind you, just jumping on board cuz they are attempting to slay the facebook dragon). I wanted to upload vids of my blending stuff, so I tried starting a youtube deal with my yahoo account. Worked great until they explained that google bought youtube, and you had to link your youtube to a google account, and hey I could even sign up for (yet another!!!) gmail account to get started. ugh

I went with Vimeo. Yay! A vid place that wasn't youtube. BUT!!! I purposefully checked all the info on video formats, and converted my vids to the exact format vimeo required, uploaded, and waited for 4 hours (!!!) while it converted my (preconverted) videoto their format. I believe it was a 20 second video...4 hours to convert...it was already converted...sigh... Every vid uploaded since has had that conversion time added. Sickening. I have never uploaded a video to youtube, so I don't know if they have any kind of 'free account fuckover' but I might just have to try it...might maybe wanna do a vid to show off somebody else's software...more later.
