| Okay, right off the bat I want to state, for the record, I am not whining or nitching or complaining or or or. Nor am I implying that I am. This is merely a suggestion, an idea to help promote the site and stuff.
The name is very misleading. Collection of Thinkers is all fine and dandy, but when you look at what this site has to offer, all it is, is a collection of gaming information with a dash of creativeness tossed in.
Where's the thinking?
I suppose an argument could be made that the thinking is with the creative threads, the writing and the RPG stuff, along with the computer animation. Yes, that is in fact thinking, and a very good job of it it is.
BUT... I know most of us on this site. We all do. We know what we're about, how we think. Even when we are completed screwed in the head, or just being down right silly, or even overly tired and mentally drained, we think. How many ideas have we developed or created? How many ways have we thought of to solve one problem after an other? How many times have we dead-ended ourselves on a train of thought, only to be stimulated by a simple observation made by one of us?
So again I ask you: where in the Collection of Thinkers is the thinking?
I have an idea, a proposal... I would like to see an inclusion of yet an other section within this site, simply named Cogito, which is latin for "to think, ponder, consider". Within this section, if deemed positively by the Admin and all associated with, any person who so wishes, with permission by Admin, be given their own thread, where they themselves are the moderator (of their own thread). If at all possible, this thread would allow for different topics. Additionally, only the owner / moderator of that thread can create new topics, but all may post responses.
Personally, i would like to limit topics to those that do make others think or ponder or consider. Topics which allow for thoughtful debate. Subject matter could cover anything, as long as it is presented in a thoughtful manner, not just a simple "because I think that'd be cool" type of atmosphere. If the author presents something, and if someone disagrees, both should be prepared to debate. Not argue. Debate.
Don't let the above fool you into thinking this would be a thread full of arguments... no no no. Remember what I mentioned earlier, that this is about thinking and pondering. A couple of you may remember that little private paper I wrote a few years back about why I felt 2012 would actually take place in 2013, or of the massively popular research project I did on ATS proving that the city of Atlantis is in Antarctica. How about the sound powered engine a couple of us were working on, or the electric drive train powered by electromagnetic shock and generators within the wheels?
I know the very nature of CoT was discussed so that it would be limited, and as such, focused. But again, I ask you... where is the thinking?

| With everything possible, probable and plausible, I'd have to agree. Why not? Sooth's Topic plus'ed! | |

| I say to Sooth: Shut your festering gob, you tit! Your type really makes me puke, you vacuous, coffee-nosed, maloderous, pervert!!!
Oh, I'm sorry. This is abuse! You want arguments down the hall... (heh...I had to)
ANYWAY. When we first discovered the ability to set certain forums as blogs, the idea was discussed to have a blog 'section' with sub-sections for any member who would want their own place to drop ideas. Like an actual blog, but here inside the forum instead of out there in the webs. For example, there would be a top section labeled like "COT MEMBER BLOGS." Under that, there would be a sub-forum called "Soothsayer says..." and "VaderXanth says..." and so forth and such and such. Obviously, the individual sub-forum names would be whatever the person wants. THAT said, since these would be actual sub-forums, each person could specify if they wanted the blog style, or regular forum style, AND yes it is possible to make only the sub-forum member (and ADMIN) moderators of the sub-forum, so each member can have their own little corner of the world.
I will add about the ADMIN permission thing: I don't think it's possible to make admin NOT have access, and though any with admin privilege really don't give a rat's ass about the nature of topics, just in case this site ever gets a bunch of people, admins would still need the ability to ax these member-owned sub-forums in case they would start to go against the rules given to us by the free forum host (like the pornography and piracy stuff). So, you have an idea, it's been seconded, I 'aye' it...now it goes to session to discuss exactly where and how to put it into effect. We will get back to you soon!

| Sooth, it's all set up. You have a forum, currently set for the Blog style, and with a test-run title. Let us know if you want the title or style changed, and if you want a pic. Details in the NEWS section, or should be at the top of the announcements on the portal. It was tested, and regular members cannot make new posts, but CAN post replies or comments. However, we could NOT test to make sure YOU have the ability to post, so please drop a quick thought in there and let's test this pig before we start mass producing thought forums! Oh, and you're welcome, Sincerely, Management | |
