In your web travels, keep an eye out for places offering free photo storage and organization, please. I don't want a social photo sharing place, I want a web gallery that I can CHOOSE to share when I want to share, with whom I want to share! I realize there's a ton out there, but if you find one that seems decent, please share...

I have been using Google's Picasa Web Albums since I got a gmail account, and all was fine. Between Google+ and Android, Google has been slowly replacing their web albums with the photos section of Google+. The other day, when I wanted to share pics here, my bookmark to my web albums did an auto redirect to my google+ photos, and it took me some doing to get it all back to normal. The problem was, in web albums I can click share, and get the links needed to embed the image elsewhere... in g+ photos when you hit share, it asks what friend circles you want to share with on g+!!! Also, I've had issues with uploading pics from my phone with the picasa app, and months later finding out they auto went public on g+... intrusive bastards!

Last night was the last straw. I took the pictures for the post liber antiquus and wanted to crop the vertical size. Uploaded to picasa and hit edit, and sure enough you can only edit in google+ photos!!! Edit used to be a powerful feature of web albums, but nooooo, they had to make that all social too! Straight to hell with that...

Until I find something better, I will be testing out using Flickr, which I've had since I got a Yahoo account, but only had one picture in it all this time. Flickr is owned by yahoo, and they have social stuff linked in, but since they don't own a social site, they make it much easier to skip all that crap, and edits are right there. Also, when I want to share a pic, it can automatically create BBcode for a clickable thumbnail or mini image, so I don't have to do the url inside the img thing. I will let you know how that goes....

Sigh... how the hell do you zoom to full size image on Flickr?!

Okay, no idea if anyone can do this or just me since settings and preferences are a bit confusing... when looking at a pic on flickr, hit the download button on the lower right and click on 'view all sizes', which SHOULD open a new page with many size options to preview. Works slick, but not as slick as picasa's zoom slider...

Know what? Fuck it... apparently only I can can click the images for a bigger version. I guess less flickr, more searchy. Will leave those pics there for now. Sorry for the inconvenience...

Fuck it HARD!!!! Apparently anyone can if they're logged in to the forum... but instead of a download button, you have the three dots. Click that and you get an option to see all sizes.
