| **IMPORTANT: It should be pointed out that this game is entirely free to play for as long as you want! You can CHOOSE to gain certain advantages by paying real money, but this is NOT required to have an enjoyable time if this type of game is your thing!** Also important: this game requires a rather large download of the game client. It does NOT run in a browser. A copy/paste directly from their site: World of Tanks is a team-based massively multiplayer online action game dedicated to armored warfare. Throw yourself into the epic tank battles of World War II with other steel cowboys all over the world. Your arsenal includes more than 150 armored vehicles from America, Germany, and the Soviet Union, carefully detailed with historical accuracy.(**NOTE: at the time of this post, the game is still considered BETA, and only has around 70 vehicles available and working in-game**) That intro starts a page full of information and features which I will link here: About WOTNow that we know WOT it is (heh), I can proceed with a game newsworthy post! | |

| Kind of silly having WoT in a category seperate from Lacuna Expanse and Colony of War, isn't it? I mean, it is a free in browser game, just like LE and CoW, right? Or are you trying to say this isn't a casual game? | |

| Okay, I have kids, and they aren't home, and it's getting too damn close to the youngest's last soccer game of the season...I'm just crabby enough to be confrontational. I also can't figure out how to get multi-quote to work, so I will just have to answer Soothsayer's questions the old fashioned way. You compare WoT to LE and Cow, being all free in browser games. In the first post, at the end of the first paragragh...the last sentence in white..."It does NOT run in a broswer." So no, it isn't like those other games in that respect. Second, if you had to poll Tankers and CoWs or LEpers, I'm sure you would find all of them would agree WoT is NOT casual gaming. WoT may be a 30-player per game MMO, but there really isn't anything casual about it. It's just as "hardcore gaming" as the old Quake3 or Unreal Tournament matches used to be. I would love to compare with more modern shooters, but my experience is pretty narrow. Since we aren't polling 3 different gaming communities, my personal opinion is NO: WoT is NOT casual. I have never fired up WoT and just sat there chatting like I see many many people doing in CoW...in fact my chatter is kept minimum in WoT cuz I'm too busy blowing shit up! PEWM PEWM Any other players of any of those games want to agree or disagree? | |

| Bah, all gaming is casual, but I see your point anyway.
I'm still not ready to fall into WoT, but I am intrigued by the World of Airplanes you mentioned to me a few weeks back. I could use some more air combat sims... Ace Combat is nice and all, but gets repetitive; a free MMO would be nice.

| Keep in mind, this isn't a traditional SIM. The only thing really sim about this game stems from the historically accurate specs on the tanks. Armor thickness, engine power, weapon damage, turn radii, turret turn radii...all accurately depicted for realistic tank-on-tank warfare. The actual driving, loading, shooting has been "dumbed down" to make for more combative combat...speed it up gameplay. It's more tactics and thinking, less "now I have to hit these three keys to load a shell." In order to keep World of Planes fast, furious, MMO, and fun, I believe they will have to seriously dumb down aerodynamics, concentrating more on the real flight capabilities and damage potential of historically accurate reproduced planes. I can't see that many people running out for a $100 joystick/throttle combo to play a traditional sim online...I don't think we're at that level as a gaming society yet. Before I go, if you're interested in getting a head start on the latest and greatest, here's the official link! World of Planes | |

| I have an associate who does security at MMC; he is one who spends OVER $100 on a joystick... and toggles, and pedals, and switches and and and. He has pretty much a complete cockpit for this one airflight game, where every toggle button and switch is accurate and functions. The game also requires the proper amount of time for engine warm-up and take-off. That would be interesting to do.
But, then again, he also doesn't have a girlfriend.
To each their own, I guess. As much as my wife may drive me bonkers, I don't think I could do without her.
Maybe if I could be on a regular schedule, I could invest time in something like this... doing three different shifts a week, while working both in Marinette and Green Bay, well... that's time consuming enough.
Hopefully things will turn around soon, though.

| WOW!!! And WoT! I have been mislead by tawdry, misleading, misdirecting, debaucherous, and ludicrous online articles! Worse, I have shared the shared misleads with you misbeleaden! (hmmm...only 3 misspellings so far...must not be trying hard enough to make up my own spin on words). Anyway, a few posts up I linked to the upcoming awesome spinoff of WoT, World of Planes! WRONG!!! Where ever World of Planes came from, it's NOT the official spinoff of WoT! The official spinoff, which I can't link to cuz there's no site yet, is called World of Warplanes. Little bit different. See what they did there? Planes vs Warplanes? Yeah...dirty cocksuckers. Though WoP looks cool, The WoW made by the Wot team actually uses the same WoT login info AND account for both WoT and WoW...including sharing gold and experience between the two!!! No word yet on if they will ever have both games rolled into one. There is no site, but a quick google of World of Warplanes will net you some screenies and a few decent articles. Keep in mind, when I start drolling over WoW, it's not WoW with elves and fairies and OZZYs and MrTs...I'm talking about WoW, not WoW. DId you hear the inflection? WoW. NOT WoW. | |

| well, my first thought upon this is... Hrmmm... I really don't have one right now. Yes, it would be cool to fly vintage aircraft spewing lead at each other, but in a way, I prefer the slower paced action of WoT. You can take your speed down to -0- and not move.... If you try that in WoW, you'd start falling (at least I hope you would!).
So whether it be WoT or WoW, I'll wait patiently for the game to come out... Have to many things going on right now as it is..
